A major Internet
gambling site is conducting an online poll on the presidential race, the
winner of which stands to win $100,000 in campaign contributions.
Thus far,
more than 47,000 voters have logged on to CasinoFortune.com to cast a
ballot to decide who receives a campaign windfall. The site has pledged
to donate $100,000 to the winners campaign and party.
The
lead keeps shifting from candidate to candidate, reads the site.
After taking an early lead, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) once lagged behind
President Bush by 22 percentage points, but hes stormed back to
lead 51 percent to 49 percent. Casino Fortune Senior Vice President Dennis
Rose, in a release, expressed surprise Bush is doing that well. I
have to admit that I am shocked that so many conservatives have an online
gambling presence, he said.
Launched
April 1, the poll will cease at midnight Saturday, and a winner will be
declared. The check will be disbursed before the winning partys
convention.
No word yet
from either campaign on whether they would accept such a donation.
But Rose implied a quid pro quo if they do. We are confident the
winner will respect the rights [of] Americans who wish to gamble and realize
the importance of regulating and taxing our huge industry, said
the release.
